Can I take a photo of my ballot in New York?

Selfie-takers, take note:
New York’s election laws forbid voters from taking photos of a completed ballot.
That ban covers photos of the filled out ballot and a portrait of a voter with their paper votes, according to the state’s Board of Elections.
However, you can take photos at the polling place. You can also take photos of a blank ballot, according to the BOE.
Whether you pull out your phone or not, state officials ask voters not to disrupt poll workers or other voters.
(New York City bans photography within poll sites, with exceptions for credentialed media.)
